contents page by kate
This contents page is from the magazine Q. The colours are black, white and red. They have a heading at the top which lets you know its the contents page and it also tells you the date of the issue. They have a big, close up picture of a well-known artist. The picture stares straight at you which attracts your attention and makes a connection to the audience. They have a little bit of information at the top left of the image which explains the connection from the image to the article. There's a features column with page numbers and names of the articles next to it. There's also a every month column which has a list of features they put in every issue and the page that its on. They have the usual codes with the colours, they have a banner along the bottom. The picture is part of the codes. They have a date of the issue and a house style. The musician in the picture isn't smiling and he looks sad which isn't a stereotypical look for a male in a magazine, his look in the picture reflects on the article as sad. The language in the contents page is very formal. The image dominates 3/4 of the page making him the main focus.
Review
On my contents page I will use a full length image that will only take up 50% of the page. I will use a banner because it looks good on this contents page. I will use more appealing fonts and colours.

There really isn't enough analysis of front covers, contents, dps in your posts. You need to analyse language and register, representations, codes and conventions used and how this research affects your planning ideas.
