Laura-Jane White and Kate Parkinson Institutions and audiences

Institutions
I have researched publishers from the magazines I have been analysing before of NME and Billboard.

For NME magazine the publisher is IPC Media. They are a leading media institute in the UK found in 1958, which have been engaged with 26 million adults in the UK alone over a wide variety of over 60 icon media brands. Most of their target audience is women consisting of over 2/3rds in the UK, therefore this magazine is ideal for my magazine as my magazine is aimed at women aged 16-24 and they relate to this category. Also this publisher receives over 25 million global users on-line which shows that it is a reliable company and the technology can be found from, laptop to tablets. By being a big, well-known company there will be more opportunities of advertisement at a lower cost which would benefit Beats magazine.

I have then looked further into detail on the website to which division would suit me: IPC Connect, IPC Desire, IPC South-bank, IPC Advertising or IPC Market-force. Out of these divisions IPC Market-force would apply to me as they quote: ''The Marketforce strategy is to drive magazine sales through innovative marketing at retail and a highly efficient and effective supply chain. We work in partnership with key retailers in all channels - from the well established WHSmith, to grocery multiples such as Tesco and Sainsbury, to emerging magazine sellers like Lidl, BP and Esso.'' This supports my initial ideas of my marketing in different channels of WHSmith and Tescos.

For Billboard magazine the publisher is Prometheus Global Media. They are based in New York formed by media division of Nielsen in December 2009. Nielsen media is active in 40 countries worldwide representing the 80% of the worlds advertisement. They quote: ''More than anything, our clients look to Nielsen Media to help them identify business activity and create the best possible framework for successful media and marketing decision-making''  This suggests that the company is keen to work in partnership with magazines and that they are a well-known produce by being leading global institute.

Overall I have considered which media institution would distribute my music magazine best and that is IPC Media. This is because they support monthly and weekly issues which fits in with my criteria. Also it focuses on my target audience of 16- 24 years and 2/3rds of their audience is women which my magazine is aimed at , which considers the marketing. The magazine will also have easy access through different media and technology such as: websites and Twitter/ Facebook on laptops to tablets. IPC Media respond well to many magazines and are highly recommendable as they are a big hit with other big branded magazines.
