double page spreads by kate

This DPS is from a pop music magazine which is the genre I am doing. The background is black and the writing is pink and yellow. The article is about Lady GaGa and the masthead refers to her song 'Poker Face'. The colours make the article look exciting and trendy. Lady GaGa is a modern pop artist which will appeal to a younger audience. The picture is quite light but also very dull with the exception of the bright lips which suggests the article is feminine. The picture is a close up of her lips. The lead is written in bold letters and the first letter is noticable bigger than the rest. They use codes such as the piture, heading, colours, range of fonts. The attention of the picture and text is split 50/50. The article uses informal language.

This double page spread is also from a pop music magazine. The picture is of the band Black eyed peas but the only one in colour is Will.I.Am which suggests he's the main focus of the article. The colors are all light and bright which makes the article more soft. They have a rhetorical question as the article heading which makes you wonder what it is about. the writing is very small and black which looks a bit long and boring. The main focus is on Will but he is wearing sunglasses which disguises part of his personality. the picture is full length of all of them. They use codes such as the picture, the black banner, change in fonts, different colours. The band dominates most of the page leaving little room for the text. The men in the image are all dressed smart to make the article look classy, the light colours also help with that. the woman in the image has little clothes on to attract male attention.

              Review
For  my magazine I will use pictures, banners, change in fonts and different colours to make the magazine look interesting and fun. I will use a picture that dominates a lot of the page. i will write the article about a hopeful pop star auditioning for x factor.

  1. Some comment on conventions and language - check punctuation - you have a full stop followed by Th only and then later a full stop and no capital.
