Overall, I think the theories of representation of femininity and masculinity reflect well in the media society.
In the media there tends to be a high standard of what men/women should be like.
(E.G) Men: Strength, power, sexual attractiveness, physique.
Women: Beauty, size/ physique, sexuality, relationship.
Furthermore on the film industry the representations of femininity and masculinity still applies as the media tends to highlight on what males/ females are aspired to look like.
Whereas in the music society the representations of femininity and masculinity doesn't reflect as much as they don't have to be that representational figure as in bands a 'geeky' slim male is just as attractive as a toned-up male. It's more of the music that counts than the visual appeal of somebody.
In my music genre: POP/R&B the representations of femininity and masculinity are still very stereotypical for both sex, as women are always changing their appearance for attention and to be this 'perfect' role model in this sexual desire; for example like Rihanna. Where as males don't have too look as muscular as other role models, for example comparing Ed Sheeeran with Tinie Tempah.
Some good work here that shows your understanding of representations. You need to like it to your own ideas for your music magazine.
